Teacher of English required, Batley!

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teacher of English to join their secondary school in Batley on a long-term placement. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teacher of English who is passionate about literature, language, and literacy, and wants to make a lasting impact on students’ learning.

The role is full time, Monday to Friday starting January 2026 covering a Maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 (including GCSE where applicable)
• Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
• Monitor, assess, and report on student progress
• Use innovative teaching strategies to make lessons engaging and accessible for all abilities
• Encourage participation in extracurricular activities such as debating, writing clubs, and school production
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
• Strong subject knowledge in English literature and language
• Experience teaching GCSE English preferred
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Passion for fostering student engagement and literacy development
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• A minimum of 6 months teaching in UK schools
